Library Mural

This client, a friend of mine, came to me and asked if I could paint clouds on her ceiling because she was going to be having a major surgery soon and knew she’d be spending a lot of time in that room, on her back, during recovery. She wanted the space to be a place that was calming and inspiring. After talking for a bit, we expanded the project to cover the entire room so that no matter where she sat or layed, there was always something new to see.

We included elements from some of her favorite places ,the beach and the upper peninsula of Michigan, and from some of her favorite books and stories. Being my first mural, the process took a bit longer than expected, however that meant that she and I got to hang out quite a bit during her recovery and she was able to watch her new magical library take shape and contribute to it’s creating.

She still thanks me for this room every time I see her. 💜
